About Lake Valley Vizsla
Lake Valley Vizsla is owned and operated by Jaymi MacNaughton. Located in Sarnia Ontario, it has always been her dream to breed Vizslas to make the breed more available in Southwestern Ontario. Although she appreciates the breed's strong work drive and keen hunting instincts, the biggest reason she loves the breed is because of the wonderful family pet that Vizslas make.
Lake Valley Vizsla is committed to producing healthy, well socialized Vizslas from well established genetic lines. All Lake Valley Vizslas used for breeding are CKC registered and appropriate health certifications are completed.
Lake Valley Vizsla's mission is to find suitable loving homes that would be the perfect environment for a Vizsla puppy to thrive in. Because Vizslas are a highly intelligent, driven, working dog, they require homes that will provide both physical and mental stimulation, as well as a loving relationship with their owner(s). Lake Valley Vizsla would be happy to discuss adding a Vizsla puppy into your family if you feel that is the right fit for you.
About the Breed
Vizslas are a golden-rust coloured dog with a short, fine coat and a trim, muscular body. Their eyes, nose and nails are usually uniform in colour and match their fur. Some Vizslas may have white markings on their chest. Fully grown male Vizslas are typically between 22-25 inches tall (at the shoulders) and weigh 45-65 pounds. Females are smaller, growing to be 21-24 inches tall and weigh 40-55 pounds at maturity.
Vizslas were originally bred in Hungary as a hunting dog, and are sometimes called Hungarian Pointers. Vizslas have strong hunting instincts and make great gun dogs that can be trained to point, flush and retrieve. Due to their strong work drive, Vizslas are quite energetic and require regular physical and mental stimulation. Vizslas are highly intelligent and are very trainable. Vizslas have been known to excel in Hunting, Agility, and Show Competitions, as well as make great Therapy Dogs.
Vizslas are affectionately referred to as "Velcro Dogs" due to the fact that they want to be with (if not on top of) their owners at all times. Due to this they have an eagerness to please their humans, which often contributes to trainability. Vizslas are incredibly loving and social and are fast at making friends with humans and other dogs.
